Milk allergy: How to manage it and what to consider from a dietary perspective
September 19 @ 12-1pm EDT

What the webinar is about: The difference between milk allergy and lactose intolerance, the prevalence of milk allergy, and the possibility for outgrowing it. With this session, you’ll also gain a better understanding of managing milk allergy, preventing allergic reactions through the avoidance of milk and milk proteins, and the impact on the diet. You can submit your questions upon registration, this helps us know what you’re most interested in learning.

Who is presenting:
Dr. Carina Venter, an allergy specialist dietitian and associate professor in pediatric allergy and immunology at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado.

Marion Groetch, a dietitian/nutritionist and the Director of Nutrition Services at the Jaffe Food Allergy Institute and Associate Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.

Treating anaphylaxis and what you need to know about Benadryl®
September 28 @ 12-1 pm EDT

What the webinar is about: The importance of using epinephrine to treat anaphylaxis, when antihistamines might be given, and what the safety concerns are with first-generation antihistamines, like Benadryl®. This will be followed by a Q&A, where you can ask your questions. Plus, you can submit your questions in advance upon registration.

Who is presenting:
Dr. Anne Ellis, a Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at Queen’s University, and the James H. Day Chair in Allergic Diseases and Allergy Research.

Making allergy management a habit: Tools to help manage more confidently. Watch a recording of this webinar. This session provides tools for both adults and children managing food allergy. Learn about the science of habits and how to develop ones that can support your family’s food allergy management goals. This is a perfect session for families and youth to help them get ready for the new school year.

Register your 7-15-year-old and have them connect with other youth with food allergy! Our fall session of Allergy Pals and Allies starts September 24. This free 8-week online mentorship program provides youth with unique and transformative sessions that are fun and engaging.

Small group webinars on managing food allergy and anaphylaxis: Next session is September 13th!

Get your questions on managing food allergy and anaphylaxis answered while connecting with others! Attend a free 90-minute interactive webinar led by a trained parent mentor. You’ll learn fundamental information about daily management and living confidently with food allergy and anaphylaxis.

These sessions are geared towards parents of children who have been recently diagnosed with a food allergy. It’s also a great session for others who are interested in this topic or would like a refresher. Following the session, you’ll be able to answer:

  • What are food allergy and anaphylaxis
  • How to avoid a reaction
  • What are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • What to do in an emergency

Sessions are limited to 6 attendees, so register now to save your spot. Our upcoming sessions are September 13th and the 23rd!



Connect with a support group

Support groups provide a positive and caring environment for you to get help in dealing with the day-to-day stress of being at risk of anaphylaxis or having a child who is at risk.

Plus, it’s a great way to keep updated on any new developments in the food allergy community and exchange tips for navigating food allergy during the school year.

Find a support group near you and connect now! If there isn’t one in your community, we’ll help you get one started.

Support group meet up: Metro Vancouver Anaphylaxis Group

The Metro Vancouver Anaphylaxis Group is hosting an event at Trout Lake in East Vancouver, BC on Saturday, September 23rd from 9:30am-11:30am PDT. It will be an opportunity to meet each other and connect in person. Families and parents of kids with food allergy, as well as adults with food allergy, are welcome.

Sweet Caroline Run on October 7th in Rothesay, NB

Join the Sweet Caroline Foundation for their Sweet Caroline Run taking place October 7th at 10am ADT at Rothesay High School.

This run/walk is to honour the memory of Caroline Lorette who passed away at the age of 14 from an allergic reaction to dairy. Help to celebrate Caroline’s life by coming together in community and sport.
