Emerade® auto-injector recall

May 5, 2023

Bausch Health, Canada Inc. has initiated a recall of their Emerade® 0.3 mg and 0.5 mg auto-injector devices in Canada due to a potential risk that the auto-injector may fail to activate or activate prematurely if dropped.

Please read Health Canada’s advisory notice for more information. You can also read the FAQs from Emerade.ca.

What you should do if you have an Emerade auto-injector:

  • Bring your in-date (not expired) Emerade auto-injector(s) to your pharmacist to get a replacement device as soon as possible. EpiPen® and ALLERJECT® auto-injectors remain available. To determine which device is best for you, please speak with your healthcare provider.
  • You can bring a copy of Health Canada’s advisory notice to show the pharmacist.
  • Health Canada has advised to keep your Emerade auto-injector until a replacement is obtained.
  • Please share this information with your child’s school and let them know that any Emerade devices on school premises will need to be replaced with either EpiPen or ALLERJECT.
  • As always, continue to follow and review our safety tips for managing food allergy and preventing reactions.
